Quality growth is essential for universities
Says SUB (State University of Bangladesh) VC Prof. Iftekhar Ghani Chowdhury
WITH a vision to emerge as a leading university in the South Asian region by providing need-based education to meet the ever-increasing demand for quality professionals at home and abroad, the State University of Bangladesh (SUB) started its journey in mid 2002. The people behind it wanted to build skilled professionals in different fields ready to join the industry. Starting small with undergraduate and graduate majors in the field of Business Administration and Computer Science, the university has today grown to be home to more than 2000 students in its own building in the prime location of Dhanmondi, Dhaka. In an exclusive interview with Star Campus, Professor Iftekhar Ghani Chowdhury, Vice Chancellor of the university, has shared the university's story of growth, its key achievements and its future plans.

The theme of the program was 'Alternative Methodologies in English Language Teaching.' The travelling conference was hosted by the American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) at Dhaka, and Leading University and UK-Bangladesh Education Trust (UK-BET) at Sylhet, which provided venues, support, and logistics for the attendees and presenters. GIS and RS Training at BAUBANGLADESH Agricultural University organised the concluding ceremony of a four-day training on 'Resource Management through Geographical Information System (GIS) and Remote Sensing (RS)' on the university campus on 25 July. Vice-Chancellor Professor M.A. Sattar Mandal was the chief guest of the event. Held at the AID Conference room of the BAU Central Library, the function was chaired by Professor Dr. M. Mamunur Rashid, Head, Department of Aquaculture. The event was attended by Professor Dr. Md. Sultanuddin Bhuiya, Coordinator, Committee for Advanced Studies and Research (CASR) as the special guest.
