Career Summit 2009 @ Chittagong
The MBA Association, University of Chittagong arranged a Career Summit at Hotel Peninsula in Chittagong on 4 September. The event was segmented into several sessions comprising of seminars, discussions, presentations, and job interviews. The programme was chaired by Engineer Mosharraf Hossain, honorable member of the parliament while Prof. Harunur Rashid, the dean of the faculty of Business Administration, University of Chittagong and Prof. M. A. Taher, Chairmen, Department of Management, University of Chittagong, were present as special guests. Mr. Kamal Uddin, the alumnus presided over the day long programme.
In the first session, Dr. Abu Taher, the Chairman of Management Studies Department, University of Chittagong gave a presentation on the topic “Shift in Business Paradigm”. In the second session, Farhana Afrin, Head of HR and Admin, Mobil Jamuna Lubricants Ltd. presented a lively discussion on “Performance Assessment and Development Process,” which was followed by an enthusiastic seminar participated by senior executives from various corporate houses. Mr. Idris, Chief Financial Officer, PHP Group of Companies, M.I. Khasru, Chief Executive Officer, Sanmar Group, Khaled Masud Iqbal, Human Resources Manager, Coats Bangladesh Ltd., Jafar Iqbal, Manager, External Training, Human Resources Div., Brac Bank Ltd, Farhana Afrin, Assistant Manager and Head of HR & Admin, Mobil Jamuna Lubricants Ltd., Naushad Md. Siddiquee, Assistant Manager, Human Resources, Sanmar Group were the main discussants. In the seminar the speakers focused on the current business trends and what should be done by the fresh graduates to cope with rapid change. In the last session Mr. Ejajur Rahman, the Chief Corporate Service Officer of Sanmar Group came up with some encouraging words for the participants.
Meanwhile the graduates dropped their CVs in the booths of the desired corporate houses. The summit was a great opportunity for the fresh graduates to get acquainted with the participating companies and to create a linkage with the corporate culture. Simultaneously the recruiting companies also got a chance to collect some desired employees from a cluster of eligible fresh graduates.
