Hajee Danesh Science and Technology University (HSTU) of Dinajpur celebrated 'University Day' amidst festivity on the campus on 11 September commemorating the 10th founding anniversary of the institution. Students, teachers as well as officials gathered at the HSTU premises in the morning. Prime Minister's Adviser on Education Dr Alauddin Ahmed along with other dignitaries including Vice Chancellor of the university formally inaugurated the Day hoisting the national flag. The day was celebrated holding different events including discussions, festival rallies and a fair. The discussion meeting was presided over by Vice Chancellor Professor Md. Afzal Hossain. Professor Alauddin Ahmed attended the programme as chief guest. The discussion meeting was addressed, among others, by State Minister for Land Advocate Mostafizur Rahman, Nurul Islam Sujan, MP, Iqbalur Rahim MP, Monoronjonshil Gopal MP, Sultana Bulbul MP and Prof Syedul Haque Chowdhury. Dr Alauddin said the new education policy should dispel the notion that the vocational education is a medium of education for the poor section of people.

 

The university was built on 80 acres of land. There are 39 departments, 6 dormitories and a library with about 20,000 books. 137 teachers, 60 officials and 345 staffs are serving at the university. At least 1559 students are studying under the 6 faculties of the university.
